Annual Conference: 14-15 September 2020

Job Centre

Associate Minister

About the Role

Start Date: September 2020

Trinity Church Scarborough is seeking a godly and gifted individual to join our staff team as an Associate Minister.

The church started in May 2017 with 17 adults and 13 children. By God’s grace we have grown to about 85 adults and 40 children on a typical Sunday, and have contact with significantly more people on a regular basis.

Trinity Church is part of the Anglican Mission in England (AMiE).

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Minister to faithfully pastor God’s people with the Word of God, and play their part in sharing the gospel in this area of North Yorkshire.

Responsibilities

The Associate Minister will:

  • Share in the preaching ministry of the church, preaching at least 20% of the time
  • Lead one or more of our Life Groups
  • Meet with individuals for personal discipleship
  • Contribute to discussions and be involved in making decisions about the future direction of the church
  • Either oversee and develop the Outreach Ministry or the Maturity Ministry of the church.
  • Plan and then pioneer a church plant in a nearby population centre

The Associate Minister will be based in Scarborough for up to 2 years. In this time, they will prayerfully plan for a new church to be planted in the locality. During this time, they will research the best place to pioneer a new church, gather a core team, and determine the best strategy for launching. This new church will be part of AMiE.

It is likely that in the initial days of the plant, the Associate Minister will remain on the Trinity Church Staff Team and may have some responsibilities within Trinity Church. However, this is a discussion that will be had as plans for a new plant proceed.

The Associate Minister will be responsible to and mentored by the Senior Minister, Lee McMunn.

Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a Christian
  • Have a BA in Theology or equivalent
  • Be able to sign up to the Trinity Church Doctrinal Statement
  • Be committed to the doctrines outlined in the 39 Articles and the Jerusalem Statement and Declaration
  • Be an ordained Anglican minister or someone keen on exploring ordination through AMiE
  • Be able to communicate God’s Word in a variety of settings
  • Have had ministry and leadership experience in a local church

Remuneration

This is a full-time position, with a salary in the region of £30,050.

The employer will make a pension contribution of 10% of employee salary.
